POSITION: Engineering Drafter (Residential, Commercial & Civil)
SYNOPSIS
The role of the Engineering Drafter is to perform engineering services such as the draw of concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures for new and existing infrastructure quickly and accurately in accordance with client procedures and protocols.
SCOPE
This position reports to design engineer and works collaboratively with other divisional personnel to complete duties. The occupant of this position is expected to have sufficient experience and training to enable them to carry out their assigned duties under general direction. The occupant of this position is individually held accountable for the timeliness, cost and quality of engineering deliverables on projects individually assigned.

JOB DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce engineering documents that meet client requirements using AutoCAD
- Interpret architectural drawings for design considerations
- Work under the guidance of design engineer/ client to understand their design requirements
- Ensure that all engineering documents adhere to Australian Standards and clients design philosophy
- Strive for accuracy and quality, exercising lateral thinking where appropriate to come up with innovative designs/solutions for clients;
- Self check and ensure engineering documents are reviewed to ensure accuracy and quality;
- Liaise with colleagues and other departments as requested
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- A completed Autocad Certificate/ Vocational Degree/ Engineering Degree (Civil or Structural)
- Proficiency in using Autocad and performing quickly
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
- An acute attention to detail in all work output
- An understanding of timber house building in Australia
- Good command in English and good communication skill is essential.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage own activities and workload, and meet deadlines, with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment

KEY CHALLENGES
- Capable of pursuing/accepting guidance from more experienced engineers and other staff, to ensure engineering integrity of work and continued development
- Gaining engineering knowledge and understanding to work towards becoming a more independent drafter/ engineering supporter
- Ensure the timely production of high quality Engineering drawings within specified timeframes;
- Provide a good example to less experienced personnel through both professional conduct and production of high quality engineering services;
